Excellent Award
But if you’re looking for a single device, the Motiv XL delivers some of the best stereo sound we’ve ever heard from a single speaker. A configuration like this could easily result in something overly bombastic in the hands of a less skilled manufacturer, but Teufel has managed to achieve a highly successful balance: powerful, warm, and surprisingly controlled when it needs to be.
A universal talent
"...it combines immense power reserves with excellent connectivity, ranging from adjustable microphone input to Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, and Google Chromecast. All in all, this makes it quite unrivaled."
Score: 5/5

“Because the Motiv XL simply performs fantastically for what it’s designed to do. I can definitely recommend it to anyone looking for audio in this category.”
“An excellent and affordable option”
“Furthermore, the Teufel Motiv XL lives up to all expectations of a complete hi-fi system; depending on the source used, playback quality ranges from good to better to best.”
Size matters!
"...the Teufel Motiv XL lives up to all expectations of a complete hi-fi system."
“It’s hard to imagine better sound and streaming capabilities.
"...extremely capable at high volumes, highly dynamic, with a strong sense of space (further enhanced by the effective Dynamore system) and genuinely excellent resolution across the entire frequency range. The low-end performance of the Motiv XL is just as impressive, confidently filling rooms where you would normally expect a two-active-speaker setup or a classic pair of passive speakers with an amplifier to have the advantage."
“A true streaming talent.”
“With the Motiv XL, Teufel has created a capable music hub for the living room. […] A true streaming talent. For seamless music playback, all major protocols are supported, from AirPlay and Google Cast to Spotify Connect. And Roon certification also makes the Motiv XL a perfect addition to compatible hi-fi systems.”
Rating: 9.7/10
In short, the Teufel MOTIV XL is the logical choice for enthusiasts who have left the phase of portable Bluetooth speakers behind and want to move on to something more serious, but who do not want (or cannot) fill their living room with cables, external amplifiers and speaker towers. It is hi-fi in a simplified form for the modern world, designed with the German precision you would expect from Berlin. A safe investment for those who care above all about music.
Score: 8/10
“Five speakers, Wi-Fi, Cast and AirPlay compatibility, a built-in battery, and 210 watts (RMS) of power… The Teufel Motiv XL is an all-in-one speaker that delivers sound well beyond its size and fills any room or terrace without hassle.”
The ‘mother’ of all portable speakers
The Teufel MOTIV XL has been the most prominent speaker in my home and on my trips, whenever I’ve been able to carry it. Because yes, this audio system abandons compact designs and goes for a massive approach, both in size and performance.
